
Translational and clinical research at Cedars-Sinai falls under the purview and oversight of the Burns and Allen Research Institute, ranked among the top ten non-university biomedical research institutions in the nation in terms of funding from the National Institutes of Health. Under the leadership of Shlomo Melmed, MD, Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at Cedars-Sinai, the past five years have witnessed a doubling of the amount of extramural research funding in the Institute to almost $70 million per year.
