Specialty treatment centers that do more of a particular procedure tend to have better outcomes than centers that do fewer of the same procedure.
The chart below shows the volumes of percutaneous renal surgeries, ureteroscopies and stone procedures. In 2008, the Minimally Invasive Urology Program did 16 percutaneous renal surgeries, 71 ureteroscopies and 213 stone procedures.

The Cedars-Sinai Minimally Invasive Urology Program specializes in laparoscopic procedures, including removal of an entire kidney (radical nephrectomy) and removal of part of a kidney (partial nephrectomy.
The chart below shows the number of partial nephrectomies done at the Institute between 2004 (15 cases) and 2008 (40 cases).

The following chart shows the number of radical nephrectomies done through the Minimally Invasive Urology Program between 2004 (14 cases) and 2008 (125 cases).
