
Cedars-Sinai's Senior Programs endeavors to help older members of the community live a higher quality of life and a greater number of years while enjoying better health. About 20,000 seniors participate each year in screenings, educational and self-help programs, health fairs, immunization clinics and exercise programs.

Center Strutters is a walking program for those who want to walk with others in a safe environment. Sponsored by an indoor shopping mall and Cedars-Sinai, participants walk for fitness in pleasant indoor surroundings three mornings each week. Center Strutters is a dedicated group of approximately 282 individuals who walked an impressive 28,000 miles last year.
Cedars-Sinai offers lectures to educate seniors on health and well-being.
Lifeline provides a home-based personal response system available 24 hours a day, managed by Cedars-Sinai, that sends a signal when the user needs medical care. Lifeline is primarily for geriatric and/or disabled individuals. For more information, call (310) 423-5468.
Cedars-Sinai provides free flu and pneumococcal immunizations for seniors and persons in high-risk groups. Programs are held at senior centers, community and religious organizations. Contact (310) 423-9581 for additional information.
This exercise program offers aerobics, muscle toning and stretching exercise classes for seniors to improve endurance, strength and flexibility. The group meets on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 to 10 a.m. at Park La Brea.
The Strength Toward Resilience, Independence, Dexterity, and Endurance (S.T.R.I.D.E.) program is a fall prevention program that incorporates a multi-factorial approach to reduce the risk of falls among older adults. The Cedars-Sinai Rehabilitation Department is collaborating with the Eichenbaum Health Center as part of a grant-funded project.
This program is for older adults and focuses on topics of fall prevention, safe use of medications, highway safety, seat belt use, and pedestrian safety. This program is presented to local community groups several times a year.
