Osteoporosis refers to the loss of bone tissue -- a health condition affecting an estimated 44 million Americans. Nearly 70 percent of people with osteoporosis are women. Typically, symptoms do not appear until the condition has progressed and a bone fracture occurs. Other indications are loss of height, back pain and stooped posture.
The Osteoporosis Clinic at Cedars-Sinai is among only a few such clinics in California to offer the benefits of a multidisciplinary approach. The clinic brings together the skills and knowledge of fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, endocrinologists and clinical dietitians to offer the finest osteoporosis treatment.
The clinic's comprehensive diagnostic approach includes a state-of-the-art bone density scanner; complete blood assessment; physical therapy assessment; and personalized nutritional counseling.
